If you know me, you know I know stains and stain removal. You also know I think Dawn soap and vegetable glycerine are a magical combination. So I’m going to reveal my secret recipe (spoil alert: I actually just did) and explain why it is the bomb.
- Get a 1 oz glass dropper bottle. (The dropper is very important – the size isn’t.)
- Fill it 1/4 full with Dawn dish soap.
- Fill it another 1/4 full of vegetable glycerine (so it is 1/2 full with both)
- Fill it the rest of the way with water.
Voila! You have Honest Kim’s De-Spotify.
The magic lies partially in the ingredients and partially in the application. If you lay your garment flat, insert a clean, absorbent white cloth under it, and work a small amount of Honest Kim’s De-Spotify into the stain with the tip of the dropper, you are concentrating your efforts on just the stain. You are not getting stain remover on a bigger area than you need and risking discoloration by the stain remover. By using the glass tip, you are also helping to lift the stain, if possible. Then you can rinse the De-Spotify out by filling the dropper with water only, moving the under cloth, and just flushing the exact area of application. Honestly, this is the best and easiest way to remove stains from clothing that I have found.
If you don’t want to buy all the ingredients and DIY (or if you realize it is actually cheaper to buy Kim’s), it is available exclusively for Fashion First Aid customers for $3.95.
